Can you answer my question about cashing out in an online poker site?
humdrum asked:
I won some good money playing online poker with absolute poker. I just sorta forest gumped my way into some winnings i’m satisfied with. Will there be a problem cashing the check they send me. I know there will be 3 checks but I think it’s illegal here in Hawaii, onlline gambling that is. Never cashed out before, i’m kinda nervous. There won’t be issues handing the check over to my bank will there?

I won some money a couple years ago from a online casino, they deposited money into my account and sent me a check for the second amount. Pretty sure I heard that shortly after that, the FED passed a law making it illeagal to cash checks from “off-shore” casinos, but it’s sure worth a try.

I doubt it will be a problem, but I never played there.
The checks I receive from pokerstars do not say “POKER” or “GAMBLING” or anything like that on it.

Good luck!
Absolute Poker is in a major cheating scandal, I would never play there under any circumstances.
Making deposits and getting paid is the biggest problem with online poker for US citizens, and the UIGEA laws make it a crime to transfer money to and from these sites. Even when they send it from a neutral bank it still can be traced back to the source. And the banks will keep records for many years.
Just to let you know, there are online sites far superior to these foreign questionable sites that are 100% USA legal. No worries about deposits/withdrawals and you can use any credit card, and get paid when you win fast by check that you can desposit in your bank with no worries. Why play at a site that has been caught in an online cheating scandal when you can play online poker USA legal at a site regulated by US law?

Good luck at the tables!
And a big tip of the hat to all our veterans, thanks for your service to the USA!

There are only problems if a poker site has a problem with a third party payment processor. Checks from poker sites have no indication that they are from poker sites. They come from their banks. I’d seriously doubt that you’d have any issues!

First of all that’s nonsense my friend about the cheating thing since that’s ancient history and could happen anywhere. For those of you not familiar with this an unscrupulous employee was caught using the house program which showed everyone’s hole cards at the table, but was caught which shows the system works actually. Second, no you won’t have a problem cashing the check and there’s nothing illegal about doing so.
